It has been all over the headlines. You or someone you are close to must have consumed this tablet either during the pandemic or in the post-pandemic. It is usually considered to be “one of the paracetamols” by common people (because it is).
Then what is the controversy about? Well, the makers of DOLO 650 are now accused of “bribing” doctors by giving them freebies worth 1000cr rupees ($125 million +) in order to prescribe the pills to their patients.
A body of medical representatives took this matter to the Supreme Court of India and the judges said, “what you are saying is not music to my ears, this is exactly the drug that I had when I had COVID recently!”.
From the start of the pandemic to the January of 2022, Indians brought a total of 350 crores of DOLO tablets, and the company made around 567 crore rupee just during the pandemic!
There is no problem with the effectiveness of this drug. it works just perfectly fine but the main problem is in its dirty business.
It raises the problem of pharma corruption to the people and not very shockingly, it has been really common in India and the people choose to ignore it.
India needs laws against pharma corruption or else the doctors whom the people of India consider to be next to god will continue to become another silent killer.
