5 things to do daily to maintain a healthy heart

The cases of heart attacks and cardiac arrests have raised significantly in recent years and with Increasing hours of daily screen time, it is becoming really difficult to avoid the risk.

  • Get enough sleep: 7-8 hours of sleep on most nights is a must for all human bodies irrespective of age. If you don't sleep well, you might be at a higher risk for cardiovascular disease.


  • Floss your teeth: The most unpopular fact is that maintaining good oral hygiene can lead to a healthier heart. Gum disease can move into the bloodstream and can cause inflammation in blood vessels, Always floss and brush your teeth before going to bed to avoid infections.


  • Avoid smoking and passive smoking: Not just smoking but passive smoking too is equally dangerous. The risk of developing heart disease is about 25% higher for people who are exposed to secondhand smoke.


  • Don't sit anywhere for too long: Long period of being seated can lead to deep vein thrombosis- a blood clot. Working on laptops is unavoidable but try to take short breaks in between work, look for standing workstations to increase movement
